Hello,
Channel 4’s popular ‘Four in a Bed’ is coming to Spain! The programme celebrates the great Bed and Breakfasts and small hotels around the UK and Spain. Whether it be their five glowing stars or the quirky and unusual approach that the owners deem their unique selling point, the programme will look at the huge variety of accommodation providers around the country.
We are looking for enthusiastic and proud British owners in Spain who feel that their business stands out from the competition and has something special to offer for the price that visitors are charged.
This series will now not only feature a wide range of B&Bs but also small hotels. They’ll all be run by owners who are deeply committed to their business and can explain in a lively and engaging way why their place, and the area in which it’s located, is so good to visit.
Each week, four places will compete against one another to be crowned that week’s best B&B or small hotel… and the judges of the competition will be the owners themselves – as they will each visit one another’s properties.
This is a potentially brilliant opportunity for owners to showcase their business on national television and highlight why customers should flock to visit them. We hope the programme will continue to encourage viewers to choose independently run places to stay in, rather than the larger chain operations.

Olé? Make that oh nay to twinning

MORPETH will not be off to sunny, sunny Spain after town councillors said oh-nay to town twinning plans.
A trip to the Costa Blanca could have been on the cards for organisations across Morpeth after the Spanish town of San Fulgencio approached Morpeth Town Council with a town twinning idea.
However, local councillors were less enthusiastic about the proposal.
Coun Mark Horton said: “The EU used to give a fair chunk of money to set up these things, but we considered this when we were approached by a town from Romania and we couldn’t see any benefit to Morpeth.
“It takes a lot of effort and there are other ways of building links with communities in other countries.”
And Mayor Phil Taylor was concerned at the potential costs involved.
“Personally, I think it would be very hard to do for us as a town council because it becomes very expensive,” he said.
“When I lived in Lanark we were twinned with a town in Germany and there were a lot of people coming across, football teams, schools, civic societies and history societies, and they were all presented at a reception in the Mayor’s Chamber, every time somebody came across.”
However, the council has not ruled out setting up informal links with the Spanish town.
Coun Derek Thompson said: “We can write and say that although we are not in a position to consider full town twinning arrangements, we could exchange ideas with them from time to time because they may have some that could be of benefit to us and we to them.
“We could have an informal arrangement, rather than just saying no.”
Members of the full council agreed with his proposal.

Café La Cubanita is open from Monday to Friday 10:00 to 14:00 and 18:30 - until no more guests. Saturday (the Market Day) open from 8:30 to 14:00. Thursday evening now open and Saturday evening closed. Closed on Sundays.This change is only valid in 2011. Next year the café will open saturday evening again.
