Medieval Market Orihuela
Despite the very cold weather a total of 94 residents used the buses put on by us to go to the Medieval Market in Orihuela. Many expressed their enjoyment of the trip, despite the freezing wind and low temperatures. We are currently planning the next one as well as Celebrations for the Queens Diamond Jubilee in June. We hope to put on something for everyone, over the three days of the Diamond Jubilee. Once things become certain, we will inform you of our plans.
Jeff, you can count us out on Oasis, re: Diamond Jubilee Celebrations. We couldn't have a street party cos the tables and chairs wouldn't stand up in the roads, BRYSKY Bryan Michael Duff.
So less than 1% of the area's population (tax base) enjoyed the subsidised trip. Very integrating!
Surely the money would have been better spent to promote the well-being of the whole municipiality rather than just 94.
There is already a public bus service from here to Orihuela, so why we need a special subsidised excursion I don't know?

If you have any ideas about how to bring the area up and make it appeal to people abroad I'm sure you could visit te office and sugges s few things. Remember though, there's no money there's no nothing so what are you willing to put forward. To be honest if I was the council I'd but some of these reposed houses knock them down and do something with the land.
Nice to hear positive comments Maureen. I think some people will criticise whatever the council try to do. At least this council is trying, which is more than can be said for other previous councils.
Why is it that Councillor Wiszniewski always seems to be getting stick about everything on La Marina. Being new to the area i am confused about the set up on the Urb?
Adam welcome to La Marina.
The answer to your question,Jeff gets praise and stick, from peoplev who write on this forum,He is a Local councillor, and is no different from any politician he will get blamed when anything goes wrong regardless if he is too blame or not, blame goes with the position.but dont forget he also gets the praise when things go right regardless to the fact that he did anything or not.Unfortunately for him he came onto the political stage when the only way was down,as San Fulgencio of which La Marina is a part of.Has massive debts which they cant repay,so the thought of spending money to make things better on la Marina, they have to spend less,in doing so things get worse on the Urb.Sometimes jeff appears to wear rose tinted glasses and dosnt see things the same way as other people do.
But if i were you I wouldnt worry about it
I am sure he has broad shoulders and will get through it without too much of a problem. But if you do have a problem that he may be able to help you with, you can pop in to the council office just off the main strip,he is available to talk to anytime mornings Mon-Fri.unless he is away on council business no appointment is necessary
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to the Medieval Market and look forward to the next event. We also came back to La Marina and spent money in the bars.
